Episode IV: A New Hobbit, An Old Coat
It was still some time before Lindir said he would return to look after Bilbo, yet already I found myself wearied with the aging hobbit’s nonsensical requests. Oh sure, it was cute the first time he gave me a little riddle to puzzle over but when he wouldn’t let me simply give him the answer I knew I was in for it. Things only got worse when he demanded I prepare for him a meal of the finest elven waybread in all Middle-Earth. But the stuff from the nearby trading post wasn’t good enough for dear Bilbo, goodness no; he needed Lembas straight from the kitchen of the Lady Galadriel herself! It was almost a relief when he then forced me to put on a play with a blind cave troll and a lame uruk because I knew then it couldn’t possibly get any worse.
In any case, Lindir had yet to return and so I still found myself Bilbositting. I had just about had it by this point and told the ‘ol codger as much, threatening to inform Elrond about his bad behaviour when he began to make his next demand. The obstinate little halfling hadn’t survived this long without having a few tricks up his sleeves though and so I found myself losing ground to his threat that he would put in a bad word at the Green Dragon, effectively cutting me off for life. If only I had traited for taunting!
Routed, I suffered through the telling of another Adventure in Bilbositting to come. Bilbo wished to recapture some of the fire of his youth, and what better way to do so than to put on some of his aged attire from way back in his burglaring days. Unfortunately, he had quite lost the buttons from his fine coat during an escape from some goblins in the mountains and according to him they just don’t make ‘em like they used to. It was for this reason that I soon found myself trudging through the dank dens of Goblin-Town.

As promised here is a post centering around my time in LotRO with my new fellows, the Sons of Numenor. This past Saturday a special event was held to commemorate our leader, Benjimir Thursby, and his ascent to the level cap of 60. What followed was an evening of debauchery the likes of which has never before been witnessed in Middle-Earth.
In truth however it was a very enjoyable party and a great introduction to events within my new kinship. People were promoted through the ranks, uniforms were doled out, drinks and food were consumed, music was played, dancing was done (mostly by myself), and we even did some horse racing. I made a spur of the moment decision to take some screen caps and before I knew it I had taken over 100!
So, I put together a gallery preserving the events of that night for all to enjoy. I debated as to whether or not I should keep every picture but in the end I figured that I may as well in case any kinmates wish to save them. Any kinmates who would like one of these pictures in a larger size (their natural resolution is 1680×1050) or without the watermark should send me a message on the kinship forums. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the pictures, as well as the little snippets I wrote to make their perusal a little more interesting.

It’s been a while hasn’t it? Yeah, sorry about that. I was having problems making updates and couldn’t even view the site for a little while. Those problems stopped some time ago but I just kind of lost some of the fire I suppose. I’ve had plenty that I wanted to write about but just couldn’t bring myself to type. I’m sure many will sympathize with me on this. The other big reason for my absence is a resurgence of my interest in LotRO, but that’s something I’ll get to in a bit.
Before my impromptu review of The Goods I promised more regular posting and while I now know better than to make such a promise it is still something I hope to follow through on. The other thing I promised was actually a series of things in the form of various reviews and articles. I will still be making the Armchair Designer posts as I still feel they’re relevant, especially considering the recent announcement of LotRO’s upcoming digital expansion, the Siege of Mirkwood. The reviews, on the other hand, will be condensed and included in the second half of this post as opposed to devoting full posts to them. This is for many reasons, chief among them being my desire to just get them over with. Also, the webcomic I hinted at is most definitely not happening as I need quite some time to work off my rustiness before I can draw with any quality or speed. I’m just not feeling the story I had planned either.
But enough about that, on to happier and more site appropriate news!
I had intended Deeply Delving Dungeons to be focused on MMO gaming and roleplaying from the onset and I have so far failed in that regard. No biggie, it was never my intent to focus solely on those aspects, but it was still a central element of the site’s theme. Even before I broke out of my writer’s laze (copyright: Kevin Smith) I knew this had to change but I also knew I didn’t really have the fortitude to run a kinship in LotRO like I had planned alongside doing this site and living my life in general. Fortunately, a good friend of mine in-game had recently joined an exceptional kinship that basically had everything I wanted, freeing myself up to just enjoy the game. And so I joined the Sons of Numenor on Landroval server! I have since occupied much of my time with my new friends and look forward to telling many stories about our exploits on here in the future.
